  • Hi Fraser1

I had loads of leaks in the early days and it was so demoralising. Is it a flat pouch you're using? That's what I had in the early days, all different makes and they all leaked, but what solved the problem for me was switching to a convex pouch as my stona wasnt sticking out enough. In 18 months since switching, I've only had 2 minor leaks.

Because you've already had a colostomy bag, I'm sure you'll be fitting the pouch properly- e.g  warming it up first and making sure it fits snugly around the stoma. Your stoma changes shape in the first few weeks too so it's definitely a good idea to speak to your nurse as you might just need a new template or a barrier ring. Sensura Mio is also available as a convex pouch if that's the one you prefer but your stoma nurse needs to approve it first.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thank you will speak to her tomorrow I had convex pouch  for my stoma and only had two leaks in 5 months had about 10 today can’t live like this !  Thanks again

  • Happy that i've been able to help and so pleased that you've had a good result (and great that you could see the nurse as quickly). Hopefully things will settle down now and you'll be able to get into a good routine.

    Take care.
