Hi I have had my stoma for 6 weeks following APR surgery. Did anyone experience blood sugar crashes and struggle to maintain a comfortable temperature following surgery? Any advice would be gratefully received.
Hi MiniM66
I noticed your post hadn’t had a reply so just wanted to say hello and welcome.
I have a permanent colostomy but didn’t suffer from the issues you are experiencing. Have you spoken to your doctor or CNS about this? It might be useful to have some medical advice to see if they can help reassure you. You’ve had a big surgery very recently, so I think it’s always a good idea to seek medical advice if you’re experiencing something which is concerning you. Sorry I cant offer any relevant, helpful advice myself.

Hi
Sarah’s given great advice and you definitely need to be checked out by the medics.
You could try isotonic drinks I bought the own brands at about fifty pence as the known brand was four times the price
I really needed the salts and sugars but I was an Ileostomy though so a different bag all together. Sorry for the pun!
it wouldn’t hurt to try and follow what your GP or colorectal nurses advices. Give them a ring. I found them very supportive
Keep us posted x
Ann
