Hi just wondering if anybody else has problems taking coated painkillers they seem to go straight in my stoma any advice would be appreciated thanks
Hi Les. Yes I remember the nurse wondering what the little yellow things were in my stoma bag - in my slightly drugged state I thought it was sweet corn! - but it turned out to be the codeine tablets. When she rang the pharmacy for an alternative they said that if I hadn’t noticed then I obviously didn’t need them! I think this coating is referred to as enteric coated. I think you will need to discuss this with your gp or pharmacy and see if you can try a different brand that is not enteric coated or maybe they do it in liquid form?
Take care

I remember being really uncomfortable after taking capsules.
I had no output and discomfort until the thing dissolved.
What I should have done is open the things and put into water.
Twas school girl error but more like a senior moment.
It didn’t dawn on me when I swallowed it
