Well my Loop Colostomy chose the middle of the night to actually work.
With solid felt ( yippee ) it needed changing and as I had only emptied it before I needed my wife to help out.
We coped okay and a new bag was fitted and so we both went back to bed.
Last night the Stoma was painful so I took a couple of Paracetamol.
The size of my waste was thumb size and so I wonder if the first time a solid passes through can be painful?
Yippee
That’s amazing. What a relief.
Sorry I can’t advice you on colostomy output because Ileostomy’s are quite loose. I only passed liquid to start. You can phone for advice here the nurses are really helpful I imagine your stoma nurses don’t work weekends. I think you will need to keep fluid level high. I drank isotonic early days now I just have squash.
Hope you have a good day.
Thanks for the update
Ann
The pain would be from the operation as your Stoma s have no nerves so they don't feel anything .My Stoma nurse told me not to be frightened of it and get in there and touch them. What a difference tt made to me get everything out in order in front of you.I sat on the toilet
and did everything I had no warning before so had to learn fast.Have a look at my profile and you'll see my journey with the same problem as you .
