Discharge

Is it unusual, a year after a colostomy, to pass a piece of poo from the rectum? My pouch had filled very quickly and then this happened! I thought it was going to be mucus but no, it was an unmistakable inch long poo! It's left me with a bit of a discharge too! I know this can happen at the beginning but after this long?

  • Hi Moira

That must have been surprise and it’s been there a long while.
    I would contact your team.
I’m sorry I’m six months so I haven’t got an answer though I am really interested in others advice.
    Thanks for putting this up.

  • Hi Artsie, it happened once before, around 6 months, I  got a shock then too! My stoma nurse didn't seem to find it unusual then but maybe I should give her a call again, just to, hopefully, put my mind at rest!

  • Yes. They are amazing and will be able to advice you.

Apart from the odd poo are you okay?

  • I'm doing quite well thanks Artsie, how are you? I've had a giggle over the weekend, just reading posts on here about using stomas as self defence! There's always something to cheer us all up on here! Keep smiling Artsie, Moira x

  • That’s good to hear Moira.
Soon be Spring milder weather and brighter skies that always cheers me

We always manage to have a giggle. Poonamie is a brilliant description of what can happen at times.

Hope the poo situation is sorted. I haven’t had anything from there apart from the enema dye test. Think mines asleep completely
