Hi everyone I hope that this finds you well
I’ve got a problem. I noticed a hard angry look sore directly under my stoma and have had advice on how to treat it from my suppliers. Drop the rings, use barrier spray and changed my bags. I’ve been changing daily to clean and dress it which I hate but have no choice if I want to stop my skin burning
The angry soreness seems to have improved however I’ve felt a very hard semi circular crescent shaped lump directly under the stoma.
Well I’ve looked up hernia and wondered if that’s what it could be. It’s very neat looking not painful in any way. I just wondered if there’s any tips you could recommend
hi Artsie, I've a stomach hernia which is noticable when I've laid down and then get up . The hernia sort of rises in a dome shape. It's in the middle of my lower stomach. I don't carry anything heavy as then I get a dragging sensation.
To be on the safe side I'd pursue that hard lump and speak to your Stoma Nurse. For sore skin round the stoma- my Stoma nurse called it excoriation- I'd use the protection spray. An alternative to help sore skin round a stoma that I find helps is plain yoghurt. Slather the sore skin with it- this may seem strange but it works for me. Also if you get the chance let your stoma get some air -this also helps me.
