Morning had a stoma fitted 3 months ago as tumour of the rectram. Always had leakage from my bottom as I think it does not need to work anymore. Problem is just finished 3rd round of chemo and bum is so sore and there is so much more leakage. It feels like the leakage is like acid and burning into my skin is the best way I can describe it. Using good old sudacrem but now at a loss what to do. Anyone elase had this and any tips to help thankyou
Hi . It’s usual to lose small amounts of mucus from your bottom but not regular leakage so it may be worth running it past your stoma nurse? I found hemmorhoid cream to be quite useful as it has a slightly anaesthetising effect? x
Hi Ya,
I had similar discharge and the stoma nurse gave me some barrier cream which helped. ‘Ultra Barrier Cream’ Just in case it helps you too. Hope you get sorted.
hi AllanA1due, I had rectal cancer. Chemo and radiotherapy caused so much pain and discomfort. My rectum and anus were removed. Most of my pain was internal. But Applying plain greek yoghurt on the affected area helped exterior pain as did products with manuka honey in them. The other thing I used to do was of a night time give the stoma 10 minutes exposure to the air. Speak to your Stoma Nurse, they're very knowledgable and they need to advise about leakages.
