Looking for your experiences......mum has a very erratic bowel after her stoma reversal in December. She is going from bunged up completely to loose.Been medically advised to start a mild laxative to avoid putting pressure on the bowel plumbing but not told which laxative would be best. I was thinking either lactulose or fybogel, but don't know which one would be better. Currently using prunes, but they have a tendancy to cause soreness.
What do you think? Do you have any experience of this??
I'm afraid I have no experiences to share with you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies. By responding to you it will bump it back to the top of the first page where it'll hopefully be seen by someone with the right experience.

Thankyou for your kind support.....that will help a lot. Update.......mum now been diagnosed with a hernia in umbellical area...no idea how caused, so Dr has given both fybogel and lactulose to keep everything moving. So now wondering if anyone has experience of bowel surgery causing hernia, and if you were given option to have it repaired?
Hi again Knowledgeispower20
Hopefully what your mum's doctor has prescribed will help your mum.
It might be an idea to post your new question, about bowel surgery causing a hernia, in the bowel cancer group as well. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there if this is something you want to do.
When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
