Surgery scar itching like mad!

Hi everyone

I had open surgery in October to remove my rectal tumor and have a temporary illostomy. The problem I have is that the scar which runs down from my belly button itches like mad . I'm not sure what to put on it to soothe it as it's also very close to the seal of the bag so don't want to put anything on it that would risk the bag coming off

You might try Udderly Smooth. We were recommended this by our oncology registrar and it’s been brilliant. Developed for cows’ udders - hence its name - it works well on this human.

Not available by prescription sadly, at least not in our NHS trust.

Hope it works for you. We bought our supply from the oncology pharmacy at St Luke’s, Guildford. Am sure somebody somewhere on the WWW would sell it if your pharmacy doesn’t stock it

Hi Wellspring I managed to order some from Amazon and what a relief also no sign of my bag which is very close to the scar coming loose
