Hi,
I have noticed over the last few days my stomach/gut makes gurgling noises and I wondered if anyone else has this?
Normally my stomach/gut is quite.
My outage has changed to be watery too. Plus I get pain from scar tissue. I went to A&E yesterday and had an x-ray and the doctor said there wasn’t anything there and to Laxido (because or scar tissue). I also rang my stoma nurse and explained all of this and she told me to eat more and was unconcerned, I mean that in a nice way.
Any replies are welcome. I guess I am looking for a bit of reassurance.
Hi Lisa
Sorry to hear about your stomach noises and just wondered if over Christmas and New Year you maybe had a change of diet and found yourself eating richer foods and possibly having the odd one or two more fizzy drinks than normal causing the gurgling noises and watery output. Possible the docs stopped your Laxido because of the watery output.
See what you are like once you get back to your normal day to day diet.
I did read somewhere that some people had good results taking Probiotics which seemed to stop the gurgling but the article did make comment that a small number of people didn't see any difference at all. As Probiotics are not cheap, to try could be an expensive trial as we are all different.
With regard to the pain from scar tissue the only thing I've got is to ask if you've noticed any change in your body image and maybe pulling on your scar tissue, please believe me I'm not inferring anything just asking you a question as at this time of year most of us do tend to be able to add a few extra pounds to our bodies, I know I can!
To redeem myself because you have gurgling noises normally associated with gas/wind have you noticed if your stomach is bloated or distended which could cause your scar tissue to pull apart causing the pain.
Try reducing the amount of high fibre foods that are known to cause intestinal gas and bloating and also try the old favourites like sipping peppermint tea or ginger tea throughout the day.
Hopefully the gurgling noises will stop very soon.

Hi Ian,
Thank you your reply.
I have been prescribed to take between 1 to 3 sachets of Laxido a day. This because of the scar tissue/adhesions, which caused the obstruction in September. I also have drink a lot (not alcohol but that may help, ha, ha, ha) to flush it out and also because of my kidneys. I have been put on a low residue diet (white bread, pasta, eggs, cheese and chocolate) as this keeps things moving.
I didn’t eat much over Christmas as I am obsessed about not getting another obstruction. Plus, also not eating things which can bung us up. I am wearing myself out and probably making myself ill.
The scar tissue is hurts if I move awkwardly or reach and sometimes (I think this) I can feel a motion moving and tugging the scar tissue. However, when I was at A&E yesterday and told the doctor where the pain was on the scar tissue and she did the x-ray and said there wasn’t anything there. I have been referred to the general surgery team regarding the scar tissue but I am awaiting an appointment letter.
Thank you for your help,
Lisa
