I would like to do introduce myself I'm 56 years old and because of colon cancer I have had a stoma since April 2017 to describe it as dramatic is probably an understatement however, it has become more manageable and I have become less frightened it would be helpful and encouraging to hear from others.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community and in particular the stoma support group, whilst we are sorry that you have found your way to join us we all understand that this is not the place you'd want to be given a choice.
In this group we discuss everything to do with Living with a Stoma and nothing is off limits
If you need advice on any problems you are having, products that might help, where to get clothing in fact if it's to do with a Stoma this is the place to come to for help, we are a very friendly group and supportive towards each other.
Please feel free to start new discussion or join in with the ongoing discussions we'll be pleased to see you and start to get to know you.
Let me know how you are getting on with your daily stoma management and let me know if there is something causing you concern at the moment most problems are easily solved as one of us will probably have had something similar in the past
Also let me know if something is worrying you which causes you to be frightened and we can discuss it either here or by private message. (Friend request sent, have a look in your in box)
I'm Ian they call me and I'm here to help you every day of the week just give me a shout out.
Hear from you soon.
Ian
Just to let you know I am an ex-stoma person since December 5th this year. Had my operation at Salford Royal. First three days fantastic then the flood gates opened. First blood then food going straight through. I had my own personal commode for 5 days then moved to a room of my own with a toilet. Things got from bad to worse until Sunday when Loperamide started working. Came home yesterday feeling on top of the world. Hope I stay there for at least Christmas. All the staff from my surgeon, nurses and support were fantastic cannot thank them enough.Take care yourself, gave a good Christmas and best wishes for New Year. Peter (ex bag man 2019).
