Hi, I am having trouble getting a seal on the stoma with the supplied cone using the Irrypump The water is spirting out everywhere even tho'' I reduced the flow to less than 1 !! I had the cone flange in almost up to the rim. Any suggestions gratefully received cos am feeling a bit fed up about it. Usually with the Dansac Gravity fed system I have no trouble at all and go at least 48 hours without any breakthrough. Never had any problem getting the water in before, it’s been so easy. I don’t have a hernia (yet !)
Hopefully someone can give me some advice please.
I am sorry to see that you are still having problems using Braun Irypump and that you have not received any responses to this post this is probably due to, as you know, that very few of the members are using this method of irrigation and I am afraid I can't help you either except to refer you back to your stoma care nurse for assistance alternatively you could telephone The Emerald Careline on
0800 163 007
and speak to a member of the team.
I am sure that you have a copy of Braun Irypump user guide but please excuse me for creating a link for you to view it online (please click on the green text to open up a new page)
I hope that you get your problem solved soon and you can enjoy the benefits of irrigation.
Ian
Thank you for the info.
The problem is not with the pump persay, it is insertion of the cone to get a watertight seal! Just practise I suspect. I have been in touch with another member who uses a pump and she is very helpful too
i am hoping my stoma nurse will be helping me out soon
Pauline
Good morning @Mans96. I’ve just come across your post. How’s it going now.?
I posted yesterday on a similar matter and I’m using the same equipment. Just started Irrigation ... can anyone help please?
I started irrigation last Thursday. Yesterday the nozzle was squirting all over the place too.
I expect you’ve tamed it now ? Did you persevere with the pump?
Hi, yes I have persevered with the pump but was getting nowhere with the Braun cone on the pump as it let water by all the time and I was getting very frustrated. Now I have attached the Dansac cone to the pump by connecting thro the end of the Braun cone and this works a treat. To my mind the Braun cone is not fit for purpose.
Thanks that great feedback @Mans96. I’ll do some research. It may be that I’m approaching things from the wrong angle and or the water temperature is at fault. The irypump doesn’t have a reliable thermometer.
Yes I do agree with you that the Irrypump thermometer is not at all accurate, which is rather annoying after spending £500 on the pump!
it is a nice piece of kit though, well engineered. A lot of people hate the cone though. It would be nice to have the choice of several.
I struggled for ages solely because of the cone. Once I changed it I had no problem at all.
Irrigation is the way to go for sure, just so liberating. I hardly give my colostomy a thought now, just irrigate every 48hrs. Never have any significant breakthrough.
keep trying, you will get there for sure.
Hi I have contacted Braun in the past regarding the cone but didn't get anywhere with them, I know a few people who have attached the dansac cone. I am fine with mine now but when I had my hernia a struggled. good luck
Thanks again ..it’s very daunting at the mo cos I think I’m going to have problems. My nurse has said do it every day do it 6 weeks.. I think I need to take it a bit slower and do it every other day to start with..,I think I need to have another chat with her!
