    Hi girlies (and Ian!)

Gayle, hope Martin and Martine are ok. I got manuka honey for my dad a while back (recommended by a friend who's female cousin had gbm, she was 32). When it transpired that my dad had diabetes we stopped it. Dont know why, i just thought honey may have been full of sugar and not good for a diabetic. I didnt ask or check with anyone which was probably bad of me for just giving him it in the first place. ooeer.

Izzy - hope you've got some help for your hubby if he's still being sick, poor thing - although no experience of chemo, is vomiting quite common? I honestly dont know.

Joan - Spot on when you said about mirrors - so so true! When all is going well for my dad (and my poor mum), im happy but when things take a nosedive and go wrong or my dad looks down, well it has a major effect on my mood too. Exhausting as you say - feel like i have bipolar at the moment!

Diane - Fingers crossed for results.

Emma - How did your hubby get on at the hospital?

Becca - just sent you a mess.

Oh, Im with gayle on the non-drinking whisky fraternity - the smell makes me ill. yuk!

BLAST!!!! just wrote a great big post and lost it all!!!

    to quickly recap(!)

Gayle - echinacea - what brilliant stuff - should make Martin feel stronger and less tired and keep him free from infections etc - Manuka honey's supposed to be fantastic- Like Leslie says, don't know how it affects diabetic diets - moderation in all things they say - apparently the benefits of good honey are huge- i just looked up Honey and diabetes (Google crazy , me..) and it said one way to check if it suits someone is to check blood sugar levels, eat some honey and then check blood sugar levels again 2 hours later - apparently some people do so well on it that their blood sugar levels even drop !?

Izzy - so sorry to hear your poor mans struggling with this awful sickness still - get some proper advice - has he got any problem with pressure on his brain etc as sickness can be a sign of this in which case perhaps he ought to see his consultant asap- or if it's the chemo get the anti-nausea drugs upgraded ? sips of cooled boiled water to keep him hydrated - you poor thing, it feels desperate to be 'in charge' at times like this , doesn't it ? - keep calm, don't be afraid and get some help - you shouldn't both have to go through another day of this xx

Becca- what good news! lovely to think your dad's still stable and making progress to keep the thing at bay - Hope you and the family can all relax and carry on sharing some really good times together again now

well second post is a bit short compared to first but got to go to bed as am KNACKERED!!!!

Hope you're all ok as it is poss to be - Hope the scan shows positive result Diane , and that Dad is ok , Lesley- Hope you'll have a lovely weekend, Emma-

    Hi folks,

Joan - you are an absolute wonder on the alternative medicine stuff, how do you know so much?, Is there anything basic you can recommend? (ive done the big post thing and lost it....a few times....how annoying eh!)
Gayle - I think we paid £24 - £30 per wee pot of manuka honey - there's an unopened one just sitting so if its any good for Martin I'll courier it through - hate wasting money you see!
Gayle & Joan - What does the Echinacea do? Is it tablets? Might get some for my dad if its beneficial in any small way - his immune system seems shot to pieces now.
Izzy - hope your hubby's sickness has stopped.

    love
    Lesley x

    Good morning,
I also take echinacea when I feel a cold coming on. I think you are not supposed to take them long term? But I might have that wrong. It's very popular here in Holland.

We also use manuka honey, not everyday but from time to time. It's also used to help wounds heal.
You can also get bandages with it infused.
Again I think I'm right to say you have to have the 'active' manula honey and that is the expensive
one. We have a spoonful in tea that sort of thing.

    Take care everyone.

    Love,
    CH xx
