    Hi
Gayle - can agree with the facebook addition! as i'm not working at the moment I seem so manage to waste so much time on there! great to see so many of us there though and its a nice change to be 'normal'! HA HA HA

Glad your feeling better - I only now take the meds when i need to which i havent for a week now!

Izzy so sorry your having a rough day - as far as I know the good days do come with some bad - but how bad I dont know - has his meds changed at all - and are they not giving him anti sick tablets?

Well we went today and he still has to have loads of tests but all being well will start 5th Feb - and we have to go once a week from now until they stop the tablets which is basically when the tumour starts to grow again - he will have his first scan 4 weeks after he starts so we shall have to wait and see - so watch this space!!!

anyway off to finish housework - still havent done much - got friends coming to stay for long weekend and the house is a bomb site - thats what happens when you spend too much time on face book!!!!!

hope you all have a good night

    xx

Hello girls- glad to see you all out to play last night ...

glad you're feeling better, Gayle - maybe you need some of that lovely relaxing reflexology too - Do you have access to a Macmillan outreach clinic at your local hospital ? Haven't tried ours but i know they offer massages etc for carers as well as patients- stress can be very 'physical' in the way it shows itself and Lord knows, we all get a big build up of stress and anxiety as carers-

it's the old thing of making time for yourself - you may need a bit more time out, go for a walk, go swimming, something physical and something that gets your endorphins going but also try and relax and sleep - sorry- easier said than done - and DRINK LOTS OF WATER (that's not with the whisky- lol) .. Lots of the worry and stress gets internalised in situation like this - trying to be strong for everyone else - I've heard that vigorous exercise, fast walking etc can really help shift it - I know that walking our dogs FAST and in a high wind whilst I have a really good rant and cry lots of hard tears and talk aloud at God and to my late Mum, and David's late grandma and St Jude and anyone else i can think of, really gets some tension out - I come back looking a fright and really cringe if anyone catches me mid rant when i'm out but it helps... it seems to shift the pressure... Also Gayle - you like music - keep playing it - David always used to have music on and i've noticed now when i come in, he's often sitting in silence looking sad - if we put music on that we both like , it really lifts the mood-

Funny- we used to go dancing and DJing quite a lot in the past but stopped when this BT nightmare began but just before Christmas we went out to a local do and had a drink or two and had a bit of a dance together and it was lovely - Nothing too arduous for David - just a bit of motown and a few beers - but we were so happy for that hour or two.. we seemed better for days after it .. Any possibility Martin might fancy going out to a local night with a bit of music- ? Is he up to it? If not, just keep good music on at home - I'm sure it helps change the mood for the better

Izzy - sorry your man's having a hard time with the nausea - Don't know if he could keep it down but if you grate some root ginger into a glass and add honey and hot water, give it a good stir and sip that - it can really help with sickness- in fact I saw some ginger tea bags in the local Somerfield or Co op - I know lots of people recommend it.. AND they're recommending ginger now because it apparently kills cancer cells!! (Google it) - even better then! Hope this helps

Lesley- hope things are getting a bit better every day for your Dad - just that walk must have lifted his spirits - and yours - Don't you sometimes feel like a mirror ? if things are going well and they're smiling, suddenly you're smiling too, the minute something goes wrong , you plummet right down with them - its a constant flux and it's a bit exhausting

Emma - following this trial business with so much interest - it must feel so good to have something to focus on - as opposed to housework - pah- you should see this place - I did think briefly about tidying up 45 minutes ago but ended up on here again instead - haha!- another Port and bed - You don't want to wear yourself out with a hoover , besides visitors love a 'relaxed ' house.....

Sleep well, peaceful night, ladies and wishing everyone of us a calm and positive day tomorrow

    lots of love

    Joan xx

hi Gayle and all you girls, just saying hello. Have just posted on wtbt. we were at SGH today for another scan, what a carry on, no parking in disabled bays or anywhere as it was visiting time ,eventually threw the car into staff car park,( risks £40 fine apparently!) went to find a wheelchair, none there, bumped into a friend who is secretary in the neurology building who got a lovely clinic nurse to help me, things started to improve. made it in time for the appointment but they were running an hour late! C'est la vie!
too much drinking going on on this thread. I'm going to post Tam O'Shanter as a warning, seeing as its Burns night soon!

    Hi everyone

Joan thanks again for all your help and advice, have decided that I am going to join the gym its a scheme through my counciller membership is only £1 and £2 everytime I go unfortunately my induction is not until late feb, but hopefully worth the wait something to get me out in the real world again lol. Do you know anything of Manuka honey and Echinacea capsules got them in holland and barret yesterday called our gp who knew nothing about them h advised I call the hospital so I am now waiting to hear back from them. Re reflexology I have had it and also indian head massage organised by Ayrshire Cancer Support they have brilliant with me, do you have scheme like that where you are?

Diane nice to hear from you goodluck with the scan, when do you get the results? Its dreadfull waiting on them isnt it, we got our last scan done at gartnaval general, and we never even got a letter to inform us I only found out because I called Mairi re Martins seizures she checked the system and the scan was in two days time, if I had not called her we would have missed the scan.

    Hi Gayle,
Being a Scot you should know that Scotch Whisky doesn't have an "e" in it, you must have been trying the Irish stuff no wonder you didn't like it.
