Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Today ive managed to do my first half day at work for a week and I got on really well. I awoke early and decided to get to work for about 0800, which is a lot earlier than my 10.00. I had a busy few hours answering general enquiries and doing some invoicing. Then it was time to go home and pick up Linda and her mum and dad. Its her dads birthday today so we took them out to lunch. Those ofm you which read this thread regularly will notice we do a lot of lunches. We never used to do this many but since my illness, whenever we fancy eating out, we just do it.Once home I did a bit of electrical work in the house before a nap. Tonights been a bit of a lazy affair., but I feel rather restless Spending my time between sitting down, walking the dog and playing on the computer.I spoke to an old work collegue on facebook tonight who is a bit of a ,how shall I put this, a youngster who has lost his way a bit in life, and we were talking quite frankly about my illness and the obviouse eventual outcome and he was very kind in what he said about me, saying I taught him good from bad, which comming from him was really nice. I hope he manages to make something of his future. I feel bloody good tonight and am really hoping for another good nights sleep, That would be heaven.

Last night I had yet another good nights sleep which was brilliant, I was beginning to forget how nice it was to sleep through the night. So far we have taken Kate to school and I have volunteered myself to co-project manage a renovation project. We then popped to the supermarket which was supprisingly not too crowded and we got afew more bits ready for the big day. I am trying to decide wether to go into work today. I feel ok to do so but do not want to overdo things.
The sun is shinning and the sky is blue and if you listen you can hear, nothing, well thats if you dont include Linda ranting and raving on the phone trying to get past a barrage of automated options to get a replacement store card. Bliss.

I decided against work today as the old girl is also off work, so instead I cleaned out the fireplace ready for our xmas roaring fire, whilst Linda tided around.Wow what exiting lives we lead, I hear you say. Tomorrow the old girl is indeed at work, so I plan to take Kate to school and then go to work myself and try and stay until Kate finishes school. Those of you who read my diary regularly will remember a while ago I was left in sole charge to get Kate ready for her school Photo. Today I looked at the pictures and guess what, there are two or three bloody great stains straight down the front of her school top,and the hair is also unique. Guess who's in trouble now. oops

its 13 minutes past twelve and my tums a bit jippy tonight hence why I am up posting on here. Ive had a good evening and a restfull one. for tea I went to the butcher in morrisons and picked up some wonderfull rib eye steak. Bloody lovely it was. Linda done some roasted vegetables and roast tatties. Of course the down side is the jippy tummy but it was well worth it. Work tomorrow so I guess id better try and get some sleep or Linda will be giving me another slap, on second thoughts !!
