Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

A really sleepy day today, not surprising after the busy but lovely day we had yesterday. I think the oyster is still trying to escape me by any means possible but hopefully will be settled tomorrow. Kate had a great time at her sleep over. I came to bed about an hour ago and have not done much all day. A really good nights sleep would do me the world of good.

Oysters have settled down OK.  Although still tired, definitely better today.  Managed a few small jobs around the house. Im not sure if im the cause of it, but for the last couple of days we have had non stop tankers cleaning out the drains and sewage system.  seriously folks its not my fault but the developers who seem to have put inadequate  drainage in. On the hour, every hour another tanker turns up. We are getting a bit fed up with it now but at  least if the oyster does its worst then it will be well taken care of. I am planning to try work tomorrow.

  • Bob, don't wish the problem on.......let those oysters settle on their own! Glad the tiredness is easing just a weeny bit....take it bit by bit, now......(ooops, sorry, that's bossyboots speaking, lol!)

The tiredness is a lot better thanks Helen. I managed a good days work and really achieved a lot. Providing I feel OK  tomorrow, I am planning to go back in tomorrow and even possibly Wednesday as well. I need to work while I am able to. As well as the money point of view, it exercises my brain which can only be good. Yesterday, I fired off a load of emails to the local council and other authorities about the state of our drainage systems and Linda also sent another this morning. This was due to the fact that again last night we were continually disturbed by tankers emptying the drains and pumping away surface rain water. We have had a few replies but as the problem has been apparently going on for three years im not hopeful  of a speedy solution.

I have already replied to you on another thread Helen but would like to offer my heartfelt support to Caz and yourself and wish her  the very best of luck.
