Well here i am again at 4.30 in the morning and i can't sleep yet again!! My husband Darryl has terminal small cell cancer and, at the moment is going through a really good phase. Which, i would have thought, would set my mind at rest and enable me to sleep. But no, here i am again having had 2 hrs sleep tonight wide awake with mad thoughts running around my head!! This is driving me crazy and i just seem to be on auto pilot all the time. Darryl is 44 years old and we have been given a prognosis of a 2-3 year life span for him. I can't seem to let go of this thought, and maybe part of me can't sleep because of that, as i feel if i'm asleep i'm wasteing precious time!! Darryl is sound asleep and resting well, and if i stay upstairs next to him listening to his breathing, i keep thinking is this the last time i'll ever hear that and end up getting so uptight and worried that i find it better to just get up again. So i wander round the house do a few chores, have a hot caffiene free drink and will myself to sleep all to no avail i might add!! hahaha surely i'm not the only carer who never sleeps, or am i????? any comments gratefully recieved. Hiya Kate my little chicken, Just to update you on everyone Teresa sis has her baby tom they are starting her off at 12 in the afternoon. so new baby tom. Not sure how Karen got on with her new job yet guess she is tired bless her and been fast asleep! Darryl's appointment with the onco went really well today we had yet more good news. The chemo has affected the mets in darryls spine that the onco said they just look like scar tissue now, and also his tumour in his lung has gone down a bit more too. So very good news indeed. We are just waiting to hear from another onco now to find out when darryl gets his radiotherapy on his spine and also on his head as that will cut down the chance of him getting brain cancer to 30% so we thought worth doing. Your mum sounds such an inspiration, and you must be doing a good job of looking after her or she would probably not done as well. I bet she is really proud of you? I'm glad you enjoyed your shopping trip bet that was fun too. Did you feel like a packhorse carrying all them parcels? hahaha. I hope she copes with the chemo and gets on ok as the days go by. Please keep me updated as to how she gets on won't you? well i hope you both have a nice day tomorrow. Oh yes nearly forgot. You have no reason to apologise for not posting and wanting to spend some time with your mum. mel, thats fantastic news about darryl, i had tears reading about him, how wonderful, i knew you were keeping daley all to yourself really lol. hope darryl un nailed again today poor man bless him lol. sorry i didnt post last night was so tired and busy as we had just had news about our friend passing away, very sad she such a lovely lady. but i was thinking about you and darryls appoint all day, and was sending lots of love your way. job training went well, we also had a laugh too, my next day is tomorrow. cant wait for darryls 50th, what a night that will be!!!!!! hope your having a good day, speak soon, lots of love, hugs and easter eggs!! your little chick karen xxxx

Hi Karen, wow we is surrogate aunts now!!!! i feel so excited don't you? It's like we.ve all known each other for years instead of a few months and so nice to hear baby Samuel and Angie are doing so well. I expect you're in bed now but hope your new job is still going ok and you are still enjoying it? You will get the bug and want to do your nurse training neaxt! I did a year at uni studying the diploma in nursing studies but had to stop as had to have a brain op but thats another story! when i was well which took a year i'd lost all confidence to go back then darryl got ill so never seemed the right time. But i'm not bitter about it and i wouldn't want anyone else to look after darryl, plus i would have missed and worried about him so much it just wouldn't have felt right. But thats my opinion as i do know some people have to work to survive and leave their loved ones in the care of lovely caring carers like you so i hope i haven't offended anyone as that wasn't what i meant. I've had a few drinks to celebrate being a surrogate aunt so thats probably why i'm waffleing a bit so just ignore tiddly mother hen!! hahaha i'm on a real high and so pleased for Teresa they deserve some happy times now after all they have been through recently. Bet her dad would have been so proud of his little, well actually hugh grandson! anyway babe i won't waffle anymore or i'll never stop hope you are sleeping well love and hugs your ikkle mother hen mel xxx
