Hi, new here, my Dad had whipple procedure for pancreatic cancer. Weren't able to remove all tumour so 10 rounds of chemo followed. Then deposit on lung so more chemo much worse this time hair loss, huge loss of weight. Tumour had shrunk so had choice to carry on with chemo or rest for a month. Opted for change in routine a month off. Now cancer has spread, been told chemo is too damaging & have to see if accepted on drugs trial in Birm! Not really talking as a family what this means, don't know where cancer has spread or what the plan is from here. I have a feeling time us short, don't know what to do with this news, I just feel so sad!

  • Hi

Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.

Sorry to hear about your dad and his experiences so far. My experience with cancer is different since my wife has Leiomyosarcoma though her experiences with chemotherapy have been sometimes more challenging.

Something that I find helps me is looking at your feelings when someone has cancer in that being able to recognize the emotions and accept them as normal under the circumstances can help to make them a bit less overwhelming. I did a living with less stress course with Maggies and that helped me to focus on things more day to day that a future that I could not control.

Talking can be very helpful but sometimes it helps to work out our own feelings first and of course the rest of your family may feel that too. Sometimes talking, or even just typing, at complete strangers can help so I hope you do keep in contact on here but remember you are welcome to phone the helpline if you need to talk to someone.
