Hi Marigold45
So sorry to read about your mum, clearly she was right to be concerned about something and now she can move to the next step - likely to be a number of more tests to determine the extent.
Your reaction is really very normal - if this odd world can ever be called normal. Have you talked to student services to discuss your options - they are usually incredibly supportive.
While you step-dad may appear to put on a brave face I am sure you are right that he is having issues too, we have a guide on talking about cancer that can be helpful and remember either of you is welcome to ring our helpline here.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Hello, I just wanted to send my thoughts and warmest wishes to you- the emotions you are experiencing are completely valid, you are facing the unimaginable and grieving. What I would say is you don't have to know what is best thing right now re- your course, I would just advise you speak to your tutors and take sometime/compassionate leave for yourself to process it all. I was mid master's when we found out about my mum's diagnosis and reaching out was the best thing I did. Each day at a time... <3
