As I shared in my previous post, my wife is newly diagnosed with bowel cancer that has already spread to her liver and maybe other areas.
The consultant wants to do chemo first rather than operate on the bowel tumour to give the the best chance which I tidally understand (the recovery time from a major op would allow the cancer to continue to spread).
my question is, we have at least a week before the chemo starts and I know from my dad that everyone’s journey is different but what do you wish you’d have done to prepare for this whilst there’s still time. I am thinking of getting the kids flu vaccines sort of thing
Hi Ian9999
Welcome to the online community. I'm sorry to read of your wife's diagnosis and forthcoming chemotherapy. I have had a different cancer type so I hope you don't mind me responding to your post. By responding it will place your post back at the top so that it may be seen by more members of the group.
I have had chemo and I attended a pre procedure type appointment and the nurses explained everything to me, what to expect etc. I realise that you want to plan ahead though. It may be helpful to have a look at Macmillan chemo information, this is the link https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/treatment/types-of-treatment/chemotherapy
Hope this helps
A x
