My beautiful grandmother has been battling metastatic breast cancer for 5 years now. We’ve now been told that she can only be offered one more round (3 weeks) of chemo and then treatment is over.
What happens now? Will she just slowly die? I am absolutely gutted, terrified for the future, no idea how long she has left. I really need some answers.
Hi bluebirds57
Sorry to hear about your grandmother, the end of treatment can seem like a huge moment but of course treatment itself can be very difficult to.
What happens next? Well probably nobody knows for sure. When my wife was first diagnosed she was very clear she never wanted to know "how long" and I really struggled with that. 10 years later and living with cancer I appreciate how right she was.
What really helped me was a living with less stress course, it helped me realise that being terrified of the future was not helping me and was stopping me appreciating what we have - some mindful training really helped there.
If you find it helpful I hope you can keep posting on here, ring the helpline or whatever you find helps you. We cannot change what is happening but perhaps together we can help us all feel less alone.
<<hugs>>
Steve
