My best friend has recently been diagnosed with IBC. I have tried to sway away from Google and thank god I did (obviously I have read some) and found this forum, wow just wow. I was so overwhelmed with the information and the prognosis on Google it was terrifying! After finding this group reading threads and blogs I do feel that I have more of a positive outlook on the diagnosis (she was diagnosed this week). At least now I have some insight as to how I can help, what to do in the capacity of being a friend. I think we have a long way ahead of us but for now its one step at a time.  We hope the treatment starts next week, chemo first.

Is there anone out there that has some positive news on IBC that can give me some tips on dealing with this, what to expect in reality etc etc

I appreciate any help

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your friend has recently been diagnosed with IBC and I'm sure she appreciates your help.

I can see that you've already found and joined the inflammatory breast cancer group, so hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post this message in that group as you'll then connect directly with others who have that type of breast cancer.

It would be great if you could pop something about your friend's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
