Hello,
I decided to join this family and friends group to learn more about how I can support my dad, who was diagnosed with cancer almost two years ago. Since his diagnosis, he has gone through a lot - and although there hasn't been any recurrence, he's been struggling with medications and pain.
I know I cannot do much to fix the problem, but I want to do my best to learn how I can be of help for him - by keeping informed and having a community of family and friends to check-in and connect with.
Thank you,
C
Hi CB89 and welcome to our special club.
What I found really quite important was learning how to look after me and recently I saw a link on this comparing this to the concept of putting our own oxygen mask on first.
If we look at Looking after someone with cancer there are lots of tips there. Like most relationships of course the trick often is to find what works for both - listening is often an underrated skill.
Ask anything on here, we all learn from each other and some days just seem extra difficult.
<<hugs>>
Steve
