Hi, I am so sorry to ask you guys, but I am so confused and scared and not sure I am being told the truth, completely. My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer around Christmas time, it feels like the depths of it are hidden, to protect us fir sure. But i am struggling to understand, the bits of information I get. From what I have gathered its grade 3, stage 4 spread to the bones, can anyone please help me understand what this may mean? He has been put on chemo medication in tablet form, I am not sure what that may mean either, sorry,  thank you for any advice anyone can offer x

  • Hi

We are here for everyone affected by cancer and that absolutely includes you - so no problem at all.

We have rather a lot of information that might answer your questions above - looking at Prostate cancer there is information about stage, grade, treatment options and even issues after treatment.

For you it might help to look at Your feelings when someone has cancer because it if very helpful to recognize our own emotions if we are then able to be the best we can be for the ones we love.

  • Hi Red27

no need to apologise- we're all here to help each other. Sorry to hear about your dad. Any cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming and confusing. I had just been about to share the link to the website section but I see Steve has already beaten me to it. That link should talk you through things step by step. if you still have questions you can also reach out via the helpline ( the number is below) or via the Ask an Expert section of the online community.

To get a more accurate picture of what's going on with your dad, can you perhaps speak to his doctor or the team looking after him? Perhaps you could accompany him to his next appointment. Just a thought.

For now though, stay calm and stay positive. Focus on what facts you know and not the "what ifs". Stay away from Dr Google (he's a scary dude). Take this all one step at a time.

Its hard and its scary but you'll get through this...trust me...we all will.

For now though I'm sending you a huge virtual hug and lots of positive energy.

    Love n hugs
