Hi,
My mum has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer and honestly I don’t know what to do…. I don’t know how to process this or how to help her or any of the rest of my family! I have two young children and we’re financially not very well off so if I don’t work (I’m self employed) we won’t be able to pay the bills and this is making me feel so unbelievably guilty because all I want to do is make everything ok, to support my mum and my dad and my siblings…. She’s got to have surgery in a few weeks… I just don’t know what to do…..
Hi LMT25 and welcome to our community, a great place where we wish we never met a new friend.
It can be helpful to look at our pages on bowel cancer here as it can help understand where your mum is and what might happen next and even what might happen after treatment.
With young children it might also be helpful to look at Talking to children and teenagers and last but not least remember to make some time for you - I learnt the hard way I needed some time for me if I was to be the best I could for my family.
You might also like to look at Self-employment and cancer to see if there are any tips there.
Post whenever on here too as someone is always listening - or ring the helpline if you need.
<<hugs>>
Steve
