My friend was diagnosed in Sept 22 with cancer in her appendix, 19th Oct spent 3 weeks in Basingstoke. Was told that the op should have been enough, sadly the biopsy revealed NETS.
suggested chemo starting 16 Jan. New Years Eve fell coming out of her house to visit me, ended up in A and E, had a CT scan to show cancer in her psoas muscle and liver. She’s very ill in hospital, cannot get out of bed, had radiotherapy and chemo last week. Now has Covid, she doesn’t have a spleen and is still on an ordinary surgical ward in hospital.
Were moving her to a cancer ward at a different hospital but did the Covid test that was then positive. As if life can get any crueler.
She’s now hallucinating, confused, very sleepy, not eating, has an infection and started to have uncontrollable bowel movements.
I don’t understand why she’s not in a hospice, there’s no idea of timescales and feel very helpless.
she’s like my sister and god mother to my children.
I’ve been to see macmillan at the hospital but find that this is all consuming, I’m confused and finding basic life really challenging. I work as a yoga teacher and therapist but feel really helpless. I’ve never list anyone close to me and feel really scared. X
