Hi all,
A family member has recently been diagnosed, and she will be undergoing chemo soon. I live quite far away but I want to support her as best I can - I will be seeing her at Christmas and I want to make up a hamper of some kind that will have things she and her family might need. I've heard unscented lotions, puzzle books/travel games and warm socks are good.
I just thought I would ask here: what did you/your loved one really want/need during treatment?
Hi Helperelf and welcome to the community. It is great what you are dong to help your family member through chemo. It can be a long day in the chemo chair, so snacks, sweets and drinks to get through the day. Maybe comfy slippers so they can take shoes off. Something to keep them busy, books, crafts etc. It can be hard to concentrate on reading, so maybe a short subscription to audiobooks. A good quality mouthwash to be used regularly. This helps prevent mouth sores. A diary or notebook and pens to document treatments and keep records of appointments etc. Small thermometer to check temperature for infections. Hot water bottle helps on tummy when feeling a bit nauseous. Small overnight bag with essential toiletries for any hospital stays. Baby wipes and tissues always come in handy. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
