My husband was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer 9 weeks ago. The cancer had spread to his spinal cord, he went through radiation to help with the spinal cord. He's also on a hormone injection for the prostate cancer. About 3 weeks ago he ended up with sepsis. He was in rehab and on the road to what seemed to be recovery until this happened. He also has CLL, in addition to the prostate cancer. That so far has been just a watch and wait treatment for 13 years.
I am originally from America. We lived a long distant marriage waiting patiently to close the gap. When he became ill 9 weeks ago, I didn't hesitate to get on a plane and fly over. I never expected a second cancer diagnosis, or all that we have been through in the 9 weeks.
He is still in the hospital, waiting to go back to rehab. I'm still here by his side, when I can be during visiting hours. The times that I'm not there at the hospital with him seem extremely hard and lonely. I guess I'm just looking for others that I can talk with.
Oh gosh, what a difficult situation for you both. I am not sure where you are in the UK but if there is a Maggie's Cancer Centre anywhere near, that might be an idea for you to meet some others in similar circumstances, Best wishes
