My stepmum has just been diagnosed with Anal Cancer which has spread to her Pelvis. The doctors say it’s very aggressive and as she has other serious health issues they aren’t sure how successful radiotherapy and/or removal will be. My dad suffers from bad mental health and keeps telling me he’s going to end his life. He’s tried to do this before but thankfully survived. I’m an only child and feel like he’s relying heavily on me, as my grandparents passed away a few years ago. It’s really impacting me as I’m not just worrying about my Stepmum, but my dad too. I can’t lose them both.
Hi Sjn2403
Sorry to hear about your stepmum and the impact on your dad and on you.
One thing I had to learn was how to look after myself if I was to be any use to my family. I did a living with less stress course that really helped me. I know speaking to the people on the helpline has been helpful and sometimes I just need to share the load with someone and reaching out can be just the ticket I need.
<<hugs>>
Steve
