Really new and just joined. We are at the beginning of the journey. I just have to ask how to get through the first meeting. We are told to be prepared for meeting with consultant. How do we get through the diagnosis meeting? Emotionally, practically. Dad is 76, late stage we fear and happening very quickly. Just sister and I who can support him. We will both be with him but I would be grateful for advice on how to support in this hard situation/meeting.
Hi Mela1971,
One of the best suggestions I know of is to take pen and paper to note down any words/phrases etc that you do not understand.
What sort of cancer do you think it might be? There is a lot of information on the diagnosis trail here.
One thing my wife was clear about right from the start was she did not want to know how long. In reality it is at best a guess based on averages and I have yet to meet that average.
If may be worth looking to see if there are support groups in your area using our in your area tool.
<<hugs>>
Steve
