Hi my sister had ovarian cancer 20 months ago and had a hysterectomy. The cancer has come back on the lining of the bowel and in the lymph nodes. They can’t operate. She is due for chemotherapy again we’re in bits as a family our dad is 86 years and I am trying to keep thing together as I work full time and have a family of my own. We’re thinking on a positive note as best as we can and seeing to her needs . I know everyone’s different but what do we need to expect from this as I did not like to ask the dr at velindre hospital how long is the expected life span.

  • Hi

Sorry to hear about your sister and all you have all been going through. For me it is my wife who has the cancer but she was very clear she did not want a prognosis and I really struggled with that.

Six years down the line Janice's cancer is stable and she is in really quite good health, Nobody could have guessed that and so I am quite grateful not to have had that worry that can feel like a ticking clock.

One lot of Janice's chemotherapy caused quite a number of issues, the second lot however was much more straightforward - and more importantly put her cancer to sleep.

    <<hugs>>

  • Thank you very much for reply and sorry to hear about your wife. But that news of it going to sleep has help me to think on the same lines and be positive and take each day as it comes and make the best of it. We take too much for granted and never get take to focus on the good things as life’s so busy with work and family stupid dramas get you down. I spent this weekend with my sister and granddaughter and we’ve had a blast.
