My brother has just disclosed that he has pain everywhere. He has his 60th birthday coming up that he thought he wouldn't make it to. He's only telling me that it's that bad I dont know whether to tell others.... I think I have to respet what he is saying and it really is his choice who he chooses to telll how bad it is but is a dificult decison cos can't go back on saying I am a sounding board... It''s up to him not me...... Difficult tho... Any thoughts?

  • Hi  - sorry to hear about your brother, hopefully he is talking to his oncology team. Pain management can be a tricky balance to get right with some people worried they might be medicated so strongly that they might not have any strength to enjoy things.

Perhaps when he talks to you you could reflect his concerns and ask if there is anything you could do to help, be that arranging a needs assessment from the council or talking to others or what.

I bet he is glad though to have a brother like you who cares.
