Lost my mum

I lost my mum 9 weeks ago. She was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer 6 months ago. I am 33 and have three young children who’s world is upside down. I am doing all I can to keep us going but I feel so utterly broken. I miss her painfully and can’t see a world beyond the pain. I know it’s not meant to be easy, but she was my everything. I’m just wondering if anyone is going through anything similar?

thanks.

  • Hi

I lost my mom back in 2013 but still miss her. My big sis has sort of stepped in to the role and is now the glue that brings out family together as we are spread out across the UK.

I am sure you will recognize some of the issues in our pages on support with grief and I would highlight there is no "right way".

As for your children, I found what seems a helpful page on the child bereavement uk site here.

  • Hiya,

I'm so sorry about your mum. I lost my mum 10 weeks ago and like you have two small kids, my youngest was 12 days old when she died. It's been truly awful. I'm still feeling traumatised from seeing her die. Always here if u want to chat it's so incredibly hard loosing your mum xx

  • Hi hayles38

Im so sorry to hear you lost your mum too and at such a special time in your life, it’s utterly harrowing. I can’t even imagine how difficult that must be.

Im able to relate to your being traumatised, I see my mum in her last moments all the time. It’s been the most horrific time of our lives and I’m finding it so hard to grieve with such young children who need me. I imagine you feel similarly?

I have wonderful people around me thankfully and hope you do too, but it’s also true that not many truely understand. If you want to talk to someone who is living through it too then please chat any time. X
