My dad has stage 4 prostate cancer, and has had a number of treatments over the years. He has just decided to end his hormone treatment due to really bad side effects and not to have any further treatments. Of course I fully respect his decision and I'm glad that he told me, but I'm totally devastated. I can't stop panicking about it, and I'm just so so sad.
Hi axolotl23
Sorry to hear about your dad and the effect the treatment was having on him. I am sure the oncology will have looked at the alternatives and of course the side effects. If is good he had treatment as that is likely to have helped but also there is always a view of cost vs benefits.
Quite a common treatment in prostrate cancer is "watch and wait" - i.e. no active treatment - is this something that he might do.
