Where do I start?! There are so many avenues I could go down but I guess at this moment in time I'm just grateful to have found a place to offload.

Thanks for being here

  • Hi @cassie and welcome to our community.

I think just about everyone one here will relate to that "where do I start" bit. We all know cancer is actually rather quite common but is often kept a real secret - not a typical conversation down the pub or over a cup of coffee.

Do post whenever as not only does it help you but often helps people who never get over that start line.

    <<hugs>>

    Thankyou.

The most recent news about my dad is that following a long overdue review with the oncologist yesterday, who was very rude and abrupt apparently Angry I've had to make contact with his GP to get a more informed update of exactly what his current situation is! Not something anyone should have to do at such a difficult time but thanks to the empathetic, caring nature of the GP we've been informed dad's too ill for any further treatment and now it's just a matter of making him comfortable.

He lives 334 miles away and is cared for at home by his 71 year old partner, who herself underwent a mastectomy 2 months after dads diagnosis. I feel quite helpless and can't begin to understand how difficult this is for them. Dads mental health is at the lowest its ever been and in his words, is worse than the cancer. He gets very tearful, tired, confused, frustrated and angry, which is showing on his relationship with his partner is already taking the maximun dose of sedative he can have.

There are just so many emotions rushing over me. One minute up, the next Im very down and weeping with sorrow but I know I have to ride these waves, it's just very hard at times and that's why I'm here. I know it's the place I need to be.
