I wrote on here a week ago with the news that my mum had been diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread and we were awaiting the 1st Oncology appointment.
Well we have now see the Oncologist, he confirmed mum has stage 4 lung cancer which has spread through the glands in the chest to the adrenal glands and to a small area in the bowel. There is no cure, he said worst case scenario is less than 12 months (if the treatments don't work) best case 2-3 years providing she remains in good enough health to receive treatment.
Her Oncologist has referred what's left of her biopsy to Birmingham hospital to see if she is eligible for gene therapy, if not it will be immunotherapy and chemotherapy for the rest of her life.
I just feel so empty, sad and angry that this is the beginning of the end.
Hi Legend1984
Sorry to hear about your mum as this was clearly news nobody wants to hear.
Your response is absolutely normal, on here we will all recognize just where you are. What can help though is when we work through the sad and angry stage to acceptance and then making the most of the time we have together.
There are some tips in Looking after yourself as a carer that I find quite useful - but it was not easy for me to get there.
<<hugs>>
Steve
