I feel so upset

My mum has an incurable brain tumour and she’s now getting new symptoms each week and now can’t walk. I’m so upset, my mum is everything to me, we are so close. I can sleep, I keep being sick and I’m so scared that she’s going to get so poorly.

  • Oh Tulip22 I am so sorry to hear about your mum. No wonder you are so upset. It's only natural to be upset.

I can empathise with the journey you are going through. My husband has an incurable brain tumour. When he was initially diagnosed in Sept 2020 I went through emotions that I didn't even know existed. Nothing prepare you for hearing that diagnosis.

Don't be too hard on yourself here. It's a lot to take in and a lot to process. Being upset, emotional and unable to sleep are natural responses.

I'm not sure I have any great words of wisdom to help here. Everyone copes and reacts in different ways. None are right; none are wrong. You just do your best. Personally I try to take time each day to get some fresh air and get out for a walk, even if its just a walk round the block. I find journaling helpful too. When you see those fears and worries written down sometimes they don't seem so bad. Please try to take care of yourself as well as caring for your mum.
