Hi all,
My Mum has recently been diagnosed with cancer in her breast which has started to spread to her lymph nodes.
They have also seen a mass on her CT by her pelvis and are unsure if this is also cancer, she is seeing an oncologist tomorrow and should hopefully find out.
She has a treatment plan but unsure if this new mass will change that.
To be honest I am struggling with accepting this news, the mass on her pelvis was found in A&E yesterday, I sent my Mum to A&E as she was not feeling well. Sounds silly but I kind of blame myself for this being found.
I don't know what to do or say about the current situation.
Sorry to hear about your mum and fingers crossed for the appointment tomorrow. I do not think you sound silly at all but perhaps concerned that things were not perhaps as straightforward as might have been hoped.
If might help if we look through Your feelings when someone has cancer as I found it helped me understand my own emotions and therefore be better able to support my wife. I did a living with less stress course that helped me focus more on the here and now but also helped when we got a knockback that seemed to come out of the blue.
Keep talking and together we can make a great team.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Hi ScarletWitch17iScarletWitch17
I understand that you will be struggling but one thing you need to realise nothing is your or our fault we care for our family members and its hard to know what to do or how to feel, I am so glad that you have found this group, its a beacon of help and support in dark times.
I hope you can get some answers from the appointment, remember there are specialists on here that can help give u advice and point you in the right direction, to support you and your mum. I understand the feeling of guilt but we need to keep strong and ask for help when needed that way we can help the ones we love and care for. Please take care
Thank you for the messages of support.
It has started to spread to her pelvis but it is early there and is small so hopefully that is a positive.
Looks like it won't change her treatment plan just chemo, hormone therapy, radiotherapy and a op.
Hopefully that will all help treat it.
Looks like they are hoping to start her treatment within the next 2-3 weeks.
I'm so sorry for the news pls k ow tho that you have support here, I k ow that it might not sound much although we can all help each other, I'm glad there is a plan for your mum, please remember to reach out to the nurses in here as they can give you the medical advice but we here as relatives with always be here to be an ear
My Mum has now finished 6 lots of chemo and is on her hormone therapy.
She is also going to start on Denosumab for the bone mets.
Her last CT around 4 months ago showed that her lymph nodes are now clear and that the tumour in her breast has shrunk. They found 3 bone mets on pelvis and spine but these apparently are rather small.
She is awaiting another CT to see if things are still stable.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
