Hello,

We have been told today that my daughter will start chemotherapy for lung cancer. I've read how damaging chemo is to skin, nails etc and wondered if anyone could recommend any good moisturisers, skin care, lip care, nail care products. I wondered if anyone has used Jennifer Young products or would recommend them? We would like to put something together for her as she starts next week.

Thank you

  • Hi Jumcc, having had chemo and many many of my friends having had it too we all suffered different types of skin, nail, and dry lips damage. I dont know for sure which is best because we all had different conditions to treat and some had no effects at all, I do remember once Googling this question for a friend and quite a list was available online so you could try that. I think if you wanted to put a care package together before chemo started " which is a lovely thoughtful idea " i would pop to Home bargains or boots and get a good moisturise for the body, i used Aqueous, for dry skin and an over the counter lip balm, nail moisturise, Bongela for possible mouth ulcers.I have never heard of Jennifer Young Products so can,t comment All the best

  • Hi

I am sorry to hear about your poor daughter and that you are here - Lung Cancer forum has so much support - have a look around a few other post and see what they recommend.

I looked at this for my Mum, Jennifer Young, but knew nothing about it.  My Mum loves a specific cucumber cream - so I bought that, Bongela, a high street lip balm, a Thermometer, comfy socks, a large soft blanket, a soft brush for her hair (its just all fell out).  I have got her some nice scarfs she can wear on her head, when she doesn't want to wear a wig. For me/Mum, I tried to keep it to things she liked as a comfort.  Hope this helps

  • Hi

So sorry to hear of your daughter’s diagnosis. Just thought I would let you know when my Dad started his chemo and Immunotherapy for lung cancer 16 days ago, we were told to not use Vaseline for lips as sometimes it can burn due to the petroleum, being as skin can become very sensitive. We opted for a Burts Bees one instead.

    All the very best.
