Hi all I’m new to the group and looking if there is anyone out there going through similar.
Found out 5 weeks ago that my mum has stage IV Ovarian cancer that has spread into peritoneal and also her liver. The only thing they have offered is palliative chemotherapy. She does not want to have Chemotherapy due to all the side effects. She wants to have quality of life over quantity as she is 71. I am worried sick as she is on palliative care and I’m not sure what to expect and how long her life expectancy is now without treatment?
Has anyone been through similar and can maybe offer any advice on what to expect will happen if she doesn’t have Chemotherapy in terms of symptoms?
Thankyou for reading and any advice offered
My father also didn't want to go through the chemotherapy road. But I talked with out of it, so hopefully he will, if he is strong enough and can handle it. I cannot answer to your question about what to expect from here on, I only want to send you my best wishes and a big hug.
Thankyou for your response. That’s great that you have managed to change your fathers mind. Thing is with my mum she is so independent and no matter what I say I don’t think she will change her mind and I have to respect that. It’s just so so tough I feel like every day is a day of worry and I don’t know how to shake it off. I send my love abs wishes to you too hunni
You are so right, in that we have to respect their wishes. I think that my father is doing this just for us to tell you the truth. His oncologist said, as his cancer is unresectable that if he can't handle the first rounds he will take him out of the drugs and maybe try something alternative. A doctor mentioned cannabis oil to me, do you happen to know anything about this kind of treatment? Perhaps your mother could try something like this, an alternative way?
Hi nobody has mentioned cannabis oil to us yet but I do know another lady on here her dad has tramadol and cannabis oil for the pain rather than morphine so I do think they use it for cancer patients x
