Hi
Our youngest daughter is 35 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 days ago, she's had 2 scans to check if it's anywhere else we get the results this Wednesday.
How do we as a family help and support her, partner, children through this.
Her partners ex wife passed away 3 years ago from cancer.
They had 2 daughters together who are 18 and 16.
They have 2 children together aged 10 and 7.
We really need any help we can get
Regards
Hi @budders2001,
welcome to the family and friends section of the community though so sorry to hear what your daughter, her partner and their children and going through.
A really important part of supporting each other is to keep talking. There are specific guides here Talking with someone who has cancer and talking to children and teenagers that might be very helpful.
As her partner died from cancer it might be extra difficult for that side of the family who may well think "here we go again" - you did not mention the type of cancer his ex wife had of course as treatment/outcomes can be very different.
One book I found quite helpful with our son was the secret c - straight talking about cancer by Julia Stokes.
Different people find help in different ways, the simple forum can be great for many and we would encourage people to keep posting as someone is always listening but our in your area tool can help find local support to you and of course you are welcome to call our helpline too.
<<hugs>>
Steve
