Hi, I've just joined here as feel a bit lost between 2 countries. I live in the UK, but my mum lives in Holland. She was diagnosed a year ago with Pancreatic Cancer, and is now fading quickly. I feel guilty for not being there to be with her, but have 3 young children here to look after/school/etc. I want to drive us all over to see her, but we'd have to isolate there and here on the way back. I don't know if its a good idea or not for the children to join (1, 6, 8). In Holland you can get exemption from quarantining to visit a relative with a terminal illness, but can't seem to find if its the same here?
Hi
Sorry to hear about your mum and the extra difficulty brought about by being in different countries and of course covid.
I am sure your mum would totally understand and would put your grandchildren first long before her. Have you access to any video calling that might help to feel a bit closer.
For your children it might be helpful to look through Talking to children and teenagers and of course for the older children do let their teachers know as they might well ask questions in school too.
<<hugs>>
Steve
