Hi all, I am helping to support a family member going through chemo, who is the primary carer for their elderly partner. They are home alone, worried about carers bringing covid into the home but finding it difficult to cope with the basics of cooking, cleaning, getting to Chemo appts at the hospital etc. They are over 75 yrs old. Does anyone know any good support services or options available in the south of England.? How are people coping with the anxiety around being immune suppressed but still having care services or even using taxis to get to appt?
Hi
As I don't live in the Hampshire area I don't have any suggestions for you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet.
I did type 'Hampshire' into the group's search bar but nothing came up I'm afraid. However if you google 'home care providers in Hampshire' you'll find lots of companies come up which you could have a look through.
It sounds like your relative might need a social care needs assessment doing so that practical help can be organised. Their carer can contact the local social services to arrange for this to be done and clicking here will give you more information.
It's natural that your relative is anxious about using care services and taxis, etc when his/her partner is immune suppressed and you might want to start a separate post asking about how others cope.
Hope this helps
