Found out a week ago that my mum has lung cancer and it’s spread from the right lung to the left and spine and also she has 2 small parts on her brain they’ve already give her tablets to start shrinking the brain ones but she’s still waiting for her biopsy I have a lot of questions and I’m not dealing with it very well at all but I don’t want to bother her and put her under any more pressure than she already is under so I thought I’d make an account for help/even a conversation would be appreciated.

    Just read this today.

    sorry you’ve had no replies.

I hope things are clearer now.

Have you had any help with your questions?
Hope your Mum is a bit better.

  • I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. My mum has lung cancer too.  It’s so hard to get through a day. My heart is full of panic and sadness always. She was diagnosed last December. I can’t really articulate how I feel. Sometimes hopeful sometimes so anxious I can’t do anything. But I am so hopeful in terms of treatment. Her tumour has shrunk, although she has immunotherapy related colitis which has had a pause in her treatments. But I do feel that treatment options are so hopeful. I keep saying hopeful because that’s how I get through. Why shouldn’t your/ my mum respond to treatment. Please DM me if you want more info about how my mum is and some positive info. Sorry this is a month after you posted.

    Hi,

My mom too has lung cancer and it has spread to her brain. She wasn't offered any treatment only things to prolong her life. She was given 6 to 12 months to live when we found out back in February. I totally understand how you feel and how anxious and upset you must be. Maybe just try and attend her appointments with her etc if any so you can ask the nurses questions rather than having to ask your Mom.

    Look after yourself x

  • I'm so sorry to here that your mums prognosis was such.  I hope you are doing ok.  I can't imagine what you are going through.  I hope you have lots of support.  Yes I do attend mums appointments, although most have been over the phone during the lock down period.  I do tend to advocate for her when I can, so its been frustrating not to be able to meet with her oncologist face to face.  But this is a small thing compared to what you are going through.

    Take care.
