hi,  I’m new to all this. Looking

for support more than help.
Elderly widowed last year mum diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer the day before lockdown. Stoma op carried out to make life “safer” at the moment. This op has absolutely whacked her.  She’s been told that she needs to be stronger to be considered for chemo to prolong life for up to 18 months. But eating exhausts her. Everything exhausts her.
I don’t love local but I’ve had to come and live here at the mo.
mo. In the 7 weeks I’ve been here I’ve seen her deteriorate
dramatically.
She fallen twice now and ive had to call people to get her up safely.
I’m now on call all day and night if she needs to get up.this on top of covid stress plus missing my family is pushing me to the limit. I’ve applied for a care package but everything going slowly just now.
Any advice. Thx

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to Family and Friends. I'd suggest you contact PALS tomorrow at the hospital where your mum was treated. They will know what help is available locally, especially useful at the moment with, as you say, 'everything going slowly'. Also contact her GP and ask for her to be referred to the local hospice; once referred you can phone them for support; they can provide a lot of help in the home. Please let me know how you get on.

    Love and hugs,
