Hi, I need some information. My dad has terminal bowel cancer which has spread and has a pain in his tummy now, we took him to hospital but was given pain killers to manage the pain. Unfortunately my Dad was given 3-6 months last October he is registered with Macmillan so im wondering is it time to arrange more pain relief and get in touch with Macmillan so his last couple of months are easier, when do we know his ready and.itsnthe right time to ring Macmillan and how do I go about this with the horrid coronavirus happening and what is the safest way.
Any help would be so grateful. Many thanks Laura.
Hi and welcome to the Community, although I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I would suggest, if your dad has not already been referred to the local hospice, to ask his GP to refer him a.s.ap. as they can provide a lot of help in the home. The Macmillan helpline is open every day from 8am to 8pm, but may take longer than usual as they're a bit overloaded just now. You could also try a call to the local hospital PALS , as they can tell you what help is available locally.
Thinking of you,
LoobyLou
