My husband had a sigmoidoscopy yesterday to check a hot spot that showed up on his PET scan ( he has lung cancer), we were relieved that it is only diverticulitis. He didn’t have sedation or gas & air so was in a lot of pain after the procedure.
He’s still in quite a lot of discomfort, says it’s not pain as such but definitely uncomfortable. Has anyone else found this? We’re new to all this & wonder whether the cancer takes a toll on your body to the extent things that are usually routine have longer after effects. He’s not on any medication at the moment as they want to remove 40% of the upper right lung first.
He doesn’t have any of the “things to look out for” on the leaflet but wasn’t actually given any information when they discharged him from the endoscopy unit yesterday.
Im now even more worried how he will cope with the major surgery for the lung cancer if he’s in pain after a relatively minor procedure.
Any help would be really appreciated, I’m going out of my mind with worry . Helen
