My husband originally had Prostate Cancer 8 years ago, he was treated by radiotherapy and Zoladex injection; he was given all clear 3 years ago so we decided to realise our dream and move overseas.

We kept in touch with my husbands Oncologist  and he returned for checks as needed.12 weeks ago the results of his PSA  bloodwork showed high levels so he returned to UK  to see Consultant and have further bloodwork and a scan. The results ( 2 weeks after appointment)even surprised his Consultant. Prostate was back and definite secondarys in bones of pelvis.

Shell shocked was not the word. We knew there was a good Oncology centre BUT were unprepared as to the length of time the wait for an appointment would take.

There is an organisation AECC, but ( and I am fully aware we live in a Spanish dependency) trying to get any information/support/ guidance in ENGLISH is proving monumentally stressful.

Does anybody know if there is a Macmillan support group in South Tenerife ( I supported a Macmillan event earlier in year but there were NO  leaflets nor anyone to ask)?

  • Hi , sorry to read about your husband and that you both find yourselves in this situation.

I wonder if there might be someone in our Living with cancer outside the UK - Discussion Forum who might have an answer for you.

All the main Macmillan information can be accessed online via https://be.macmillan.org.uk/be/default.aspx

I can relate to some of your issues as many years ago I ended up having a heart attack while in Sweden and there was no information available n English, it was quite frustrating especially when the airline refused to let me fly for a week after I was released from hospital.

Hope you find the information and support you need.

    <<hugs>>
