Hi sadly I've just joined the group. My mum had been diagnosed about 4 months ago but I'm so angry with her, she asked if my husband was free to take her to a hospital appointment, we assumed it was for either her eyesight or hearing only to find out it was the breast clinic, she had been referred by her gp but my mum knew something was wrong a year ago. Anyway she was given tablets to reduce the tumour, was told she'd have an op but they wanted her to have a ct scan to make sure that was all there was and now they found her lymph nodes in her chest are inflamed and needs to continue to take the tablets and they will give her another ct scan and go from there. I know she's having treatment but i am struggling to accept that she left it so long.

  • Hi and weIlcome to the community though sorry to hear about your mum and especially how that has made you feel. Dealing with the concept that you might have cancer is something that pepole are often frightened of and I am sure your mum was just trying to protect you - tends not to work wery well though does it.

Looking bckwards and what-ifs are something of a nightmare, things are where they are and she is now getting the treatment she needs and hopefully now you can be more open with each other. If the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes (they can be inflamed for a number of reasons) then the survival rates are only slighly lower but until the oncolgy team she what happens nobody will really know.
