Ok so I’m trying to not freak out or panic but when they told my dad he had throat cancer they said he needed an op for a biopsy and a CT scan (which he had both just over a week now) then they would call him back to discuss the rustle and treatment...so today they call to say he needs a PET scan and an MRI! I can’t help but be really paranoid they have had have found something they where not excepting!!!
Hi , sorry you have this additional worry we can all realte to the issues around having tests and especially waiting for results, we sometimes refer to it as scanxiety. It is of course possible the CT was not as clear as they would have likes and so they are now going for a bit more infomration to get the best treatment plan possible.
My wife's lungs light up like a christmas tree when she has a PET-CT but it is really good at picking out signs of cancer whereever they are, she is not keen on MRI's though as they can feel quite claustrophobic. Treatment for her has rendered the cancer stable and we have benn living with cancer now for six years now.
You might like to look at I'm looking after someone with cancer to understand more about how cancer affects us as well as the patient and we really need to remember to look after ourselvees.
<<hugs>>
Steve
